The wine company Gaja is one of the most famous in the world. In 1859 the winery was founded in Barbaresco by Giovanni Gaja. Giovanni Gaja was the great-grandfather of the current owner, Angelo Gaja. Around 300,000 bottles of wine are produced annually and the vineyard covers 92 hectares. This Gaja is made from grapes from 14 different vineyards of the Barbaresco DOC. The red wine has a very deep and dark bouquet of red fruits, cedar and plums. Balanced and spicy on the palate. Long lasting finish with very fine tannins. Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo. Aging: 1 year in barriques and 18 months in barrels. Drinking temperature: 18-20°C. Closure: Natural cork. This wine is excellent with red meat and dark sauces.
